Tristram Woodhouse, Proprietor & Head Coach

Tristram “Trid” Woodhouse started his hockey career at the age of 10 playing at Claremont Collegians (Westside Wolves). He eventually moved to UWA Hockey Club and since then has played 263 games, scored a record 302 goals and won five premierships as part of the Classic League Team.

Trid played for the Perth Thundersticks between 1999 and 2006, scoring 52 goals and winning three gold medals and three silver medals – having reached the grand final every year.

Selection into the Australian National team came at the ripe age of 28. In 2003, he debuted for Australia against the Netherlands in Canberra and went on to win silver at the 2003 Champions Trophy and gold at the 2004 Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia. His has 21 international caps and he has scored 7 goals for Australia.

Passionate about the game, Trid turned to coaching in 2004, with the aim of developing juniors and taking elite coaching to grass roots.

He has built upon his coaching skills over the past five years working with juniors and elite players alike. His experience includes coaching the UWA Women’s 1st Team, specialty coaching sessions with the WAIS Diamonds, and he has even been to Japan to work with the Japanese Women’s National Team (and is returning again this year).

More recently, Trid was appointed by Wimbledon Hockey Club (UK) as Director of Hockey, leading the Men’s 1st Team to two league promotions in consecutive years. In addition, he is responsible for implementing a new junior development plan to create player pathways for the future.

Trid is an accredited Hockey Australia coach and Tennis Australia coach. He has a valid Working with Children Check and is first aid qualified.

Ben Senior

Ben is the current state Under 21 boys coach. He gained success in his first year of coaching this team at the national championships in 2011. He has also coached mens first division teams in WA. Ben has been coaching with Woodhouse Sports Academy since July 2009 and is passionate about the development of juniors and seeing them grow.

Kiel Brown

Since debuting for the Kookaburras against the Netherlands in 2007, Kiel has made a steady rise in the national team and how has an Olympic Bronze Medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also currently plays for the WA Thundersticks in the AHL. An experienced mid-fielder, he is also a qualified hockey development coach.

Grant Schubert

Grant is a strong running forward with the Kookaburras and since being named most promising player at the 2003 Champions Trophy and WorldHockey Young Player of the Year, he has won gold at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and bronze at the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing. Grant is a qualified hockey development coach.
