Schools and Teachers
Woodhouse Sports Academy supports schools looking to improve the quality of school hockey with number of exciting programs.
We deliver high quality hockey coaching that both teachers and students can benefit from. Our aim is to improve the level of hockey in schools from a holistic perspective by offering both teacher PD and student coaching. Working within the curriculum framework, we can show you how to make both coaching and playing more rewarding.
Below is a list of our services, however we welcome your enquires and are happy to work with you to meet your school’s specific needs.
Term Programs
During the Terms 2 and 3, we can run extra-curricular hockey programs for your students. Typically, the program runs over eight weeks and incorporates a step-by-step skill development process covering:
-Game safety and rules
-Basic pushing and trapping
-Slap hitting and hitting
-Movement with and without the ball
-Defensive skills – channelling and tackling
-Forward skills – goal shooting
-Specialty skills – 3D skills (ball movement in the air)
-Game sense drills
-Match play and positioning
The program is suitable for year groups 2 – 12 and we can also run the program for school teams, in which case you may choose to focus on specific development areas.
Programs are usually run at the school grounds, before or after school – we will work with you to find the most suitable times.
Price
The program costs $120 per person and is run on a user-pays system, or we can work with schools to make alternative arrangements.
Teacher PD
Our aim is to improve the quality of hockey within the school environment through Teacher PD sessions that can cover everything from basic skills to systems of play.
We believe that students are more responsive to knowledgeable and confident teachers so we work with you to develop and retain key skills in hockey coaching and provide a new and exciting way to deliver the curriculum. At Woodhouse Hockey Academy we focus on the importance on teaching why skills are needed and when to apply them, not just how to do them.
We can deliver sessions at a date and venue that suits you and we recommend running one- or two-day sessions (2 hours per day).

$40 per teacher per session
Substitute Teaching
In the event of a staff absence or even if you are looking for specialty coaching for your hockey class, Woodhouse Sports Academy can provide qualified and experienced coaches.
Whether we provide short-term or long-term cover, we come prepared with lesson plans and skill assessments and we can work within your class framework.
